Jen Philpot has been with Deer Park Distributors for the past six years, working across sales operations, jukeboxes, and marketing. As VP of Commerce & Social Media, she plays a key role in connecting products to the people and spaces that use them - bridging the gap between retail, distribution, and the evolving ways audiences engage with physical music formats.
Deer Park Distributors is a family-owned distributor based in Illinois, serving independent retailers, record stores, and e-commerce partners across the country. As the exclusive distributor of Crosley Radio, they provide wholesale distribution, drop-shipping, and fulfillment services, supporting a wide range of products—from turntables and 3-inch vinyl releases to speakers, radios, and full-size jukeboxes.
Outside of work, Jen is a mom of two and while spending time with family, is also planning her next trip, getting lost in a book, or taking a new class whether it’s boxing, ballet, or yoga "...basically being the queen of hobbies".

How did you get into your industry / What motivated you?
Honestly, I knew nothing about the vinyl industry when I started the job kind of fell into my lap. But I can’t imagine my life not being a part of this community now. The people and the culture keep me motivated.
What is a day in the life like?
My days usually involve processing reports, working with indie record stores, handling orders, and prepping for new product launches. It’s a balance of logistics and building relationships.
In your opinion what has been your favorite / the coolest thing you've worked on?
Definitely Record Store Day and Black Friday releases. The anticipation leading up to them and working with indie stores to make sure they’re stocked for their customers, is exciting and honestly, I kind of thrive on the pressure. I also really enjoy being connected to the jukebox side of the business there’s just something special about the way music brings people together, whether it’s in your home or through a jukebox in a bar.

What has been / is the most difficult part of your job?
Sometimes the toughest part is balancing the fast-paced deadlines with making sure each store feels supported and taken care of. There’s a lot of moving pieces, but it’s worth it.
What advice do you have for someone wanting to get into pursuing what you’re doing?
The indie record store community is incredibly welcoming!
My advice is to know your stuff, listen, and always do your best the stores appreciate effort and honesty.
Are you a vinyl collector yourself? What drew you to it? If not, why the vinyl industry?
I wouldn’t call myself a hardcore collector, but I do enjoy having vinyl at home. For me, it’s about the experience the connection between music, the stores, and the people who love it.

What types of things are happening in your industry / with vinyl that you’re excited or worried about? i.e. innovation, or trends you’re seeing.
I’m excited about how vinyl continues to grow and attract younger generations it’s keeping the culture alive. At the same time, production delays, tariffs, and supply chain challenges can be tough, but the passion from fans and stores keeps things moving forward.
Who has been influential to you and your growth as a professional in this industry?
Scott Bingaman (my boss) has been a great mentor for me, sharing his deep knowledge of the industry and connecting me with the right people to grow. I also admire Carrie Colliton from Record Store Day she’s such a strong female presence in the industry and a reminder that there’s room for women to thrive here. And of course, I wouldn’t be where I am without the indie stores themselves, they constantly inspire me with their passion and dedication for the industry.

Anything else you want to share? If not, tell us what you're listening to right now:
My music is a little all over the place. You’ll catch Red Clay Strays, some Incubus throwbacks, and even a little Japanese rap in the mix.
