Tiffany Langdon

Operations Manager, 2424 Vinyl Pressing

2424 Vinyl Pressing describe themselves as a small but scrappy group of music lovers, people deeply connected to vinyl across genres, decades, and scenes. Today we have the pleasure of introducing you to their Operations Manager, Tiffany Langdon. As the plant continues to build out their operation, her role is crucial.

2424 Vinyl is a record pressing plant offering manufacturing services for a range of projects, from independent artists to established labels. As one of the newer facilities coming online, they are helping expand production capacity while finding their niche spot in the market. The team's shared passion shows up not just in the records they press, but in the way they’re shaping their workflows and day-to-day production.

When not directing operations at the pressing plant, Tiffany is attending as many live shows as possible, both in Detroit and around the country. She says "I love a good road trip. My routes for every road trip, whether for work or adventure, are planned around indie record stores. I am constantly adding to my collections of records and record store t-shirts".

How did you get into your industry / What motivated you?

I was contacted by 2424 Vinyl about a job opening. It combined my passion for music and my management experience into the perfect job!

What is a day in the life like?

There is no such thing as an ordinary day in the pressing industry. Things are constantly changing, between standard daily operations, assisting with production and traveling to customer locations to provide premium customer service there is never a dull moment.

In your opinion what has been your favorite / the coolest thing you've worked on?

Seeing projects that 2424 has pressed on shelves at record stores. It's pretty rad to see something that our team worked on out in the wild.

What has been / is the most difficult part of your job?

Keeping the moving parts on track and synchronizing the team to meet client deadlines can be challenging. Bottlenecks happen and are so frustrating.

What advice do you have for someone wanting to get into pursuing what you’re doing?

If you are passionate about it - go after it!

Check our pressing plants, indie record shops, etc. on social media. There is so much cool stuff out there.

Are you a vinyl collector yourself? What drew you to it? If not, why the vinyl industry?

I am a collector for sure! I am always on the lookout for something cool.

What types of things are happening in your industry / with vinyl that you’re excited or worried about? i.e. innovation, or trends you’re seeing.

The vinyl industry doesn't seem to be slowing down. It is so cool to see new techniques and the evolving artistry of the pressing industry.

Who has been influential to you and your growth as a professional in this industry?

Brie Andrews of Third Man Records in Detroit has been a constant source of support and knowledge without a doubt! And Mike Jakary at 2424 - he has been my mentor and friend since day one. I learn something new from him everyday.

Anything else you’d like to add:

I feel pretty lucky to work in an industry that I love so much! 2424 Vinyl is a startup that works with major and indie labels and local artists. I get to see and hear amazing things every day.
